The Great British Coast

I knew we were on to a winner when we first walked the Coastal Path, seems others are seeing  the light as well.

St Andrews and the Fife Coast have been ranked at Number 5 in the Top 12 Coastal Places of Britian.

Also there’s talk of  a new cafe opening on the East Pier in St Monans in 2012.

Pittenweem Arts Festival 2011

Pittenweem Arts Festival

Pittenweem Arts Festival

The 28th Pittenweem Arts Festival this year runs from Saturday 6th – Sunday 14th August.

The festival always starts on the first Saturday in August and ends on the second Sunday. The Festival hosts both well-established artists and newcomers. The entire village becomes the arts festival with many of the local homes becoming art galleries for the festival period. It is a fabulous event and attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year.

Pittenweem is located 1.5 miles from St Monans and can be accessed by car on the main road or by foot along the picturesque Fife coastal path.

This year the festival will present the following artists and many more besides:

  • Kate Downie with a drawing installation inspired by civil engineering.
  • The scrap-metal animal sculptures of Helen Denerley which will appear on the Outer Pier at the harbour.
  • Alex Muir: milliner of distinction. Pittenweem-based Alex’s exhibition celebrates forty years of hat creation.
  • Pum Dumbar: artist and collagist.

The Bluebells Cottage is available for rentals over the Pittenweem Arts Festival, contact us for availability and prices.

St Monans and the East Neuk of Fife

We made our first ever visit to the East Neuk of Fife in August this year and we loved it so much we have decided to invest in a holiday home in the lovely seaside village of St Monans. We can’t wait. When we came to view our new house in September, it was an incredibly stormy day (see header image), and waves were breaking over the harbour with great force, it was pretty spectacular, yet very different to the still, glorious, scorching weather we had experienced during our visit in August. We still loved the place, so knew it was meant to be. We can’t wait to share our home with you all and it will be available for self catering lets from May 2011. Watch this space as more information develops.
